Baked Apples

Serves 6 - Prep time 30 mins - Cook time 1hr 

Ingredients

6 Granny Smith apples

20 pitted dates

1/3 cup chopped walnuts

6 tbsp Henry Langdon Burnt Orange & Cinnamon Sugar

1/2 cup water

2 tbsp maple syrup

2 tsp butter

Method

Pre heat the oven to 16oc.

Remove the core from the apples then use a small knife to enlarge the cavity, then make a shallow cut around the circumference of the apple to allow it to expand during cooking.

In a bowl, mix the dates, walnuts and Henry Langdon Burnt Orange & Cinnamon Sugar.  Use this mixture to stuff the apples then place them into a shallow baking dish.

In a small jug, combine the water and maple syrup then pour over the apples and dot each apple with a little butter.

Place the baking dish into the pre heated oven and cook for appox 1 hour.

Cooking times will vary according to the size of the apples, so check sooner if you use small apples.  The apples should look puffed and be tender.

Serve hot with your choice of vanilla ice-cream, cream or creme anglaise.
